Basic training for new players joining their first galaxy

(1) Colonize as many planets as you can quickly. Choose planets with the resources you will need to build ships. There are less Exotic and crystal planets spawned in the galaxy, so they are more valuable. Consider the food, production and science values of the planet and planet size. The bigger the population the better.

(2) Build 1 turret on every planet as soon as possible to stop conquest from troop ships

(3) start researching to increase ship speed, researching ability and planet defense.

(4) ask questions (you can also post your question here under newbie FAQ)

(5) If there is a forum post about the galaxy you are joining, make sure you read it for added rules on game play. You should also click on the galaxy which will show you the galaxy settings. You will come to understand how these settings effect game play as time goes on.

(6) Before you attack an enemy planet or fleet ... always scan the enemy target first, to make sure you have more fire power and hit points then the target.

- Should I send my starting colony ships to other systems or immediately colonize within my home system?

- How many pops should you grow a new planet to before building anything on it?

- How many shipyards would you put in a system while still in the colonization phase?

Start building Farms as soon as you have three POP.

Send one colony to the nearest solar system, and colonize the next best planet in your home system.

As for the number of ship yards in a solar system, start with one each. later in the game you can increase the number as needed.

Welcome to CS and thanks for asking a question.

Nick

You should always colonize planets in your home system first. Research cold fusion right away to increase your colony ship speed.

(1) Colonize as many planets as you can quickly. Choose planets with the resources you will need to build ships. There are less Exotic and crystal planets spawned in the galaxy, so they are more valuable. Consider the food, production and science values of the planet and planet size. The bigger the population the better.

(3) start researching to increase ship speed, researching ability and planet defense.

Depends on the Home System. If this is the Beginner366 galaxy, where you have 2 colony ships and 2 juicy planets with 70/70/70 Commodities I think I would use the colony ships in the home system.

If you can spawn a new citizen in 1 or 2 turns then hold off on building the first farm. When it takes 3 or more turns to spawn a new citizen then build your first farm. Most times I found waiting for the population to grow to 4 or 5 works good. Then again it depends on the galaxy settings.

As many as you can support and still maintain growth. When talking about support, I'm talking about having enough resources to build a Colony ship in a reasonable amount of time (2-4 turns) and having the crew to man it. No need to build a Colony ship if it's just going to sit in orbit.

Please remember to build 1 small turret on every planet. Even the juicy planets. Or someone may conquer them with a single troop ship.

If you have no scans you can sacrifice a ship and you may get lucky and get a battle report with all the details a scan would give plus more.....
