Just wanted to set up a thread for quick ideas and brainstorms over new forms of MTGs. There's so many interesting possibilities with the new placement system.

Here's one from Confused: King of the Hill

I was just thinking on another I think could be interesting to try out: One system per player. So a team with 4 players have 4 systems. Obviously it's then very important to have equal number of players on each team.
Not sure how that would play out. Maybe quick, maybe slow. But I guess light fleet combat would be king Wink

Anyways, if you have a little idea that doesn't need a thread of it's own just yet, put it here! Big Grin

With the single system variant.. we can also just leave other systems as is (to make rivers).. but a ridiculously high colony mod.. so you're stuck with your hq and juicies.. or we maybe make regular planet commodities 0 or space 0.. hmmm.. or just plain hq and no other systems in between is cool enough :p

What about an 8 team galaxy 8x8x8 4 to 10 people per team each team gets a corner. and are placed side by side, in conjoining systems, so they will have to travel out of their territory to colonize other systems.

The center of the galaxy would be open for colonizing.

Is it possible to have all planets colonized at the start? For example you have a typical galaxy with 4 teams of 5 players. The galaxy is split in 4 and each member of a team gets equal planets already colonized in there area. This way everyone starts out on equal footing and the 60 to 70 ticks noramlly used for Col0nizing is gone and you just start to build.

This type of game would allow for a faster start for a 3 hr galaxy and would make everyone equal as far as planets go.

Dont think that is possible, but we could give all players a number of colony ships equal to the number of planet he or she would be able to get.

Thats a possible option for sure. However I wonder about the possibility of someone send a load of ships into someones area to get a large foothold. I guess the rules would need to address a situation like that.

Maybe we make colony mod really high so if someone uses up their ships in another person's territory.. then they end up with no ships for planets near their hq.. (though if they lose it to interceptors.. that's damn bad luck/skill on their part)
