I was thinking of making home systems having 'juicy' planets that are very unjuicy.. and forcing people to colonise in their surrounding neighbourhood earlier..
I was also thinking to reduce the tech mod down to 500 or 600..
I never played in the last editions of these series.. so I'm unsure what works and what doesn't

I'll get to it again.. was exploring with Erwin whether we could make all systems a hq.. so you have no empty systems.. and Erwin said might be possible if he changes the way starting positions are assigned.. he said it could be a small tweak to the code but no time to try yet.. So I just left that idea alone and forgot this galaxy :p I'll ask him again to open it as it is

See.. how fast was that.. but the dates are tentative.. meant to put it at least 2 weeks out.. but it's just there for people to sign up.. and we launch when enough players are there.. sort of a waiting room.. heh..

Does 0 rep mean we can kill all the little guys in this galaxy? If so, it is NOT for rank one players; it should say rank 2 and up, and would be improved slightly by flexible HQ. Players that can survive in a zero rep situation know how to design HQ's and also how to optimize their play for nonoptimum parameters, such as 45/45/45 HQ.
As to people who don't know to colonize aggressively, let them be swallowed alive, rather than "helped" by screwing up home system.
I might join this galaxy if enough others do. In my maiden galaxy, I complained about the effort of managing 80 planets and was told I could not expect to have that many very often. Ha! I am a very good colonizer and always end up with more than my share, and then I am a carnivore and eat vulnerable players, adding to my management woes.
So planets/player is a major consideration in choosing galaxies for me.
yeah, but then I have to be very careful to retire at the last minute. Besides, I have to evaluate carefully whether I really have the time for another galaxy or whether I should wait a few weeks and then start a thread about my dream galaxy.
