This post was originally named "New 1h galaxy" - misleadingly
I was thinking (after some discussion with Dixie and Mizzi) that we could try a buddy system galaxy where players sign up in pairs (e.g. one with <=450 fame at time of signup; the other with >450 fame).. and it's meant as a way of mentoring new players to ease them into ranked galaxies..
We'd need a list of players interested in such a galaxy.. so maybe we could have a rollcall on who would like to participate
Already have their own pair
-----------------
1.
2.
Players with <=450 fame who is looking for a partner
-----------------
1.
2.
Players with >450 fame who is looking for a partner
-----------------
1.
2.
If anyone has suggestions as to how the galaxy settings should be set up, that'd be welcome too

Intriguing...but I think it should be >450 and <200
1 hour ticks are kinda gruesome, though...I would only do it for one of those new players who I like, which is several of them. Well, all of them who post in the forum or live chat.
Well, any of them that asked me...I like people....

450 was completely arbitrary.. so it is open to debate.. and I'm sure it doesn't have to be strictly enforced.. and I think if the ratio isn't 1:1.. that can be adjusted too

This was quite nice concept... if you are able to allow teammates to start next to each other(with new positioning mechanics).
Multi-team galaxy rules would suit best this approach.
So it would be basically 10 2-player teams.
It might be also fun if players are allowed to run both empires in one team.
No direct advantage common to multiaccount issue. On the other hand just imagine how hard it would be to beat Mizzihood-Mizzihood team.
Whole issue about multi-accounts is that they give unfair advantage(btw alliances that last through multiple galaxies are same issue).
As long as you control empires only in your team there's no unfair advantage over other teams. You might even be at some disadvantage as you have to sleep/work so there will be 1-3 turns when you can't control your alliance(fleet especially).
Overall multi-account is an issue only in FFA games... in team games as long as all accounts are in one team it changes nothing directly(like except that 4*Powers or Mizzihood is most likely much better than 4 different players, but balancing teams is compleatly different issue).
Also this approach in team games allow even more extreme strategies in which one player is getting 'boring' role.
