So when are we going to a have teams for noobies with a more experience person as our parnters???
i want to learn more but doing it just killing off other noobies is not really learning much and they dont help you out on doing the right start strats either
I don't think we'd have enough sign-ups for a multi-team right now (since one is already running), but maybe 10-15 people could be gathered for a regular one.
Otherwise we could combine a learning gal with one of the new MTG concepts when the current is over. I guess another month or so.

I love training team galaxies and so does tingling, so you'll probably have no trouble finding captains. Start a thread in the forum. Figure your galaxy will end at turn 700, and figure out when that will be. That will give you an idea of when you want your training galaxy to start.
You DO learn an awesome amount from your first galaxy playing against new and unskilled players. Also you build your first governors. Be sure to save them so you can upload them into your next galaxy.
I would like to give a regular TG a go.. and give a try to the starting positions code in a regular TG - never got to arrange teammate positions in a regular TG before.. and experience from MTG taught me a few lessons
If there's anyone else who would like to captain teams.. I'd be very glad to let them captain - I am kinda involved in a bit too many galaxies at the moment..
@Dixie.. Any preference for galaxy settings?

And considering that it'd be mostly meant for newer players.. I actually would like to suggest 1h tick times.. which i think suits their liking more.. And I guess it's a sort of handicap for the experienced players who would most likely miss some turns.. But I don't think it's meant to be a highly competitive match anyawy (it should still be challenging enough to make it fun though)..
O.. and galaxy 198 would end in about 12 days time.. so if you send out a PM to people there.. 12 days should be about right to gather people into a new galaxy.. if team starting positions are to be chosen by players themselves.. we might need to tweak the timing a bit in the case of a TG.. i'm starting to wonder how the 48h rule would work..
One more thing.. I'd also like to take the chance to experience on whether we could make an odd number row of systems.. Would I be testing too many things? But I was thinking of doing 7 deep.. 3 for each team and a river down the middle.. still a regular TG format so everyone sees everyone else at the beginning (I was thinking MTG is a bit harder to organise because of all the gentleman rules and inactive problems)

I was thinking it'd be a bit too difficult to get people to be in pairs (the last time I posted it - I didn't get too many responses, probably because most newer players dont really check the forums).. I was thinking we do a TG first where they get a feel of who everyone else is and how it is to work in a team.. then once they get to know more people.. they could try working in pairs..
and Dixie turned me down of being my partner in crime..
On another note, I dont see why pairs cant be formed as part of a team.. and they get to be placed close to each other in the team.. ? Or you still prefer a regular galaxy setting? (I understand that some people might enjoy having an element of diplomacy though - so if that's the preference of the majority.. a MTG format would be nice too)

im playing mtg but thats slow like all hell so i could easily play another TG
Deep playing field, positions chosen beforehand, would seem like a good way for new players to get some experience at whatever role they prefer

I kind of like a 0-4 (all ranks) tg--FOR the newer players. If you are rank 2 1/2 and up you are a teacher/trainer required to encourage your newbies no matter how badly they play.
It should have 1 hour start ticks for 48 turns and then 2 hour ticks, which actually is the tg standard. Newer players like more action.
Somehow I wanna be on tingling's team and be mentored by him, but I do not think that is going to happen.

I am all for another tg thats open to everyone. Not sure about the faster start. I say start with more colony ships to make up for the longer tick time.

This sounds good to me, also.

why not a normal galaxy? TG's are too different, i'd preer to play iin pairs.
We've never done this before, and it lends itself extremely well to a 'tutor' galaxy.
Essentially an MTG with very small teams and without the cumbersome rules. I think it could be fun to team up with someone else, against maybe 5-10 other 2-player teams.

Could be real fun, in fact
I dont mind playing in pairs.. I was just unsure how we'd get people to come up with pairs of players.. so initially I thought a regular TG was easier to set up.. i could be wrong.. We can start with forum signup of interested pairs..

though id love to teach some new player, my own skills in warfare itself are too lacking to compete in such a galaxy i fear
plus, its not a TG, and you know i only play TGs on principle. But if you guys wanna give this concept a try, sure go ahead
