It probably can't be this weekend though.. I think we'll need time to pick teams and I need to check with Erwin whether he can tweak something to make it work.. the codes can't make it a tg with shared vision from the start and a speed galaxy with the scheduled ticks and faster ships at the same time I think

I know we've done a poll for this before - so I'm not doing another one.. but is there a preference for which hours a speed galaxy best takes place? *Assuming it's over a 2-day weekend
Standard speed galaxies last 5 hours per day (which I personally find tiring even with the breaks in between).. so I was wondering if anyone wanted to give 2 hours per day a shot.. The compromise being that we cant cover that many ticks if it's 2 min turns - I was hoping it'd be 1 min turns :p making it as frantic as playing a real-time strategy game..
I tried to list out different times in different time zones (in 24 hr format), and assuming that people sleep btwn 1am - 8am.. there's quite a few chunks where it's not bedtime for a particular zone.
HKT = Hong Kong Time (my time)
MSK = Moscow Time
CET = Central European Time
*Portugal comes somewhere here right?* Sorry I'm having trouble reading the time zone map..
GMT = London (?)
EST = New York
CST = Chicago
PST = LA

Do we want some unusual setting(s), or just the normal ranges?
I plan to set up the galaxy and a blurp tomorrow or saturday, so we might have a speed galaxy with a few more players than usual.
And I'd like a high starting HQ and lots of colony ships to start (if we could start with some science points in the bank, that would have been nice too, but I think it's difficult to code it in.. so o well..)

@Tingling:
One of us is reading that list wrong.
As far as I can tell, it's impossible to have a decent time for it in both HKT, CET and PST.
A decent afternoon time in HKT makes it night-time anyone in the Americas.
A decent afternoon time in the americas makes for night-time for me in Europe.
...and so forth. I just don't see how those three zones can all be accommodated.
Honestly the best time for me is after 1am.. when I'm free from commitments of the day.. so I dont mind playing 2-4am (or 1-6am as is the normal time) :p
if only for a weekend once in a while anyway

O yea.. i meant to come around to mentioning that too.. eventually.. :p
We cant use the playerpos file with speed galaxy settings due to the automatic galaxy resize feature.. so we cant really keep teammates on the same side of a galaxy
Im also not too keen on doing a team galaxy with fast ticks - knowing what happened the last time it was tried in last call tg.. and we cant have varying tick lengths without labelling it a speed galaxy.. meaning no breaks..
although we could come close with maybe 120 turns of 1 min ticks.. then a 24 hour turn for Erwin to set up the next batch of fast ticks.. but i thought it was too cumbersome and not worth the effort since most players prolly wouldnt play 1 min ticks anyway
Erwin did say we could bring back the prime time feature.. but he reminded me that it was plagued with people missing the entire prime time and hence 100+ (or just a lot of) turns..
On a separate note, primetime duels or speed galaxy duels did make me think of the possibilty of setting up a league cup competition for individual players where maybe matches could be played over a weekend or two (it would have been nicer with llama's end turn button idea :p - but Erwin said it'll have to wait on the to do list itself)..
or players get placed in groups in a UEFA champions league format kind of thing.. football season is about to start after all :p and go 1 v 1 to decide who goes to knockout rounds from the groups..
king of the hill comes first though.. o yea.. and this weekend's speed galaxy if it happens.. and if im free to play :p so im leaving this idea alone as a footnote unless someone is interested in working out the details

These times should mean midnight to 2 am for Asia, afternoon for Europe and a not too early morning for America's west coast.
CET times.
Saturday, 11th of August
16:00 - turn 0..60: 1 min ticks
17:00 - 10 min break at turn 60
17:10 - turn 61..120: 1 min ticks
18:10 - turn 120 end of day 1
Sunday, 12th of August
16:00 - turn 121..161: 1.5 min ticks
17:00 - 10 min break at turn 161
17:10 - turn 161..200: 1.5 min ticks
18:10 - turn 200 end of game
Galaxy settings are standard. Hope to see you all there for a fast and furious match!
I posted the ticks for day 2 as 1½ minute ticks, but they will in fact be 1 min ticks. The galaxy will last as long as posted (2x130 mins), but we'll have 240 turns in stead of 200.
The schedule Erwin received from me below. First number is the turn, second is the number of seconds it'll last.
I posted the blurp on the front page. So far 8 players.. not too bad.. heh.. but hope they realise they have to sign in at 15:45 CET to avoid being dropped.

1 min ticks was too fast for me to do all needed things but partly i enjoyed a lot the fast happening. I liked the small galaxy, the small amount of players and the fast research, i found the galaxy good balanced.
I would much like 3, best 5 min ticks, it could then be over 2 or 3 weekends.
