I just opened this galaxy for signup (with password)
but I forgot to change my initial tech mod.. so its still set at 500.. kinda lazy to ask Erwin to reshuffle it (I cant make changes like that once the galaxy is created)

All players who join must declare war on every empire they see straight away.
At least as soon as practicable - and players need to remain at war during the galaxy.

Actually, I noticed that I had put down April 17 in one of the earlier posts before DrPwnguin signed up here in the galaxy, and I had checked with him before if he'd be here mid or late April. So I guess he might be joining soon perhaps.
I think I'm going to go ahead and start the galaxy on April 17 and hope he's there by then. Would probably like to have the weekend to prepare for the early conflicts

Hmm I could be wrong about this.. but perhaps when pd was designed, it took into consideration that pd should withstand attacks from combined enemy forces.
But since alliances are essentially disabled in this galaxy, defenses outpace what a player can put together for attack? Then again, I haven't went beyond pd1.. and no one has attacked me.. maybe score is scaring people off?
Anyway, I guess galaxy settings might have caused some of the problems here.. My fault really.. I think a more claustrophobic galaxy might have increased encounters and the heat of the galaxy.. Simple physics I guess.. More heat and friction between atoms as things become compressed? (ok.. I admit I forgot everything about physics)
Not quite sure if tech mod is the problem too. I know there were calls for an even lower tech mod - so we could get to capital ships earlier maybe. When I set up the galaxy I was thinking of extending the window of opportunity for earlier attackers - those who built an early corvette fleet to attack others before they could even reach scilabs. Somehow I don't see a lot of vette fleets flying around, and of the one I had, it hardly dealt damage to anyone lol..
Or... is it because of 3h ticks? This galaxy was meant to be an action-packed one.. but maybe 3 hour ticks have caused things to become un-heaty?

I think the settings are fine. IMHO it was the inactivity that put a damper on the ship-ship combat we where looking for. Why try and Conquer an active player when you have 2-3 inactive easy targets and also 40-50 planets that haven't been colonized at turn 150ish.
With alliances being forbidden, PD is a viable defense option, and taking a planet can take 3-4 turns if your lucky. There are ways around this, but I've yet to find a player willing to trust me, or for that matter respond to any of my inquires.
In-Game we are talking about setting an end-turn and so far War lord, Zdrok, and The Kratocracy or OK with it.
I suggested between turn 250 and 300, so how about we split it and set the end turn for 275. We can end it sooner if everyone wants to. I'll let it ride to turn 200 before setting the end turn. If anyone wants to play to the Bloody end speak up now.
Well just for the record, I had no objections :p .. The end turn seems to have already been set now.. Hope you guys enjoyed the galaxy somewhat.. Sorry I went inactive myself some point in the game

Glad you had no objections. I posted in-game about ending it sooner, at turn 225. Hope everyone is Ok with that. If not please speak up
Not sure what went wrong with it. I was hoping to see more ship-to-ship fighting, or some 3-4 way battles going on.
