Volume I: The Basics

The following governors are the ones I use in the Somewhere galaxy. At the time of copying we write turn 245, and the governors will reflect that.

Generally, I can say that they are very similar to the ones I used in Premium 1 and Skinny’s, and all three are galaxies that I’ve done well in. These governors are well suited for a Ground Defence, but could easily be made to rely more on turrets if you so desire.

I’ve opted to not use build queues, as I’ve had bad experiences with them. Hence the governors handle building by directly assigning facilities (or ships) to the planet queue (whenever it’s empty). In some cases, like Golder and Miner, they build just a few of the relevant facilities. This is because I like to have a little more control over which planets build what at which time. In other words, I build many more Banks, Labs and Mines than these governors would let on, since I build additional ones manually when I have my needs covered by other planets. I could arrange for this to be done by the governors, and I may, but I haven’t yet and it would probably get quite complex before it worked as desired.

I’ll go through the governors one by one, starting with the ‘main’ governors - those assigned directly to my planets, followed by the helper governors. Aside form general remarks, I won’t be making many comments, as I assume you understand the basics of how rules are executed and conditions evaluated.

A rule marked by indentation and a ‘+’ in front, signifies a rule which is directly ‘bundled’ with the previous condition (as opposed to a grouped rule, which is shown simply as indentation).

Part III: My Governors

Breeder

Unlike the other governors, this has no checks for stationed military when the planets are maxed, since I assume there’ll be plenty of troops. It’s probably a mistake, actually. Since I tend to send hordes of troop ships to the same planet (when on the offensive), it can get emptied quite fast, leaving it vulnerable to an alert or lucky enemy. However, the fix isn’t on the governor. To prevent my farmer planets from emptying like that, I would have to tell the admiral not to man ships unless the military units have a certain rank (1, possibly 2).
